Please join us in welcoming our newest faculty member to the University of Chicago Department of Microbiology, Dr. Elias Roth Gerrick, who will join as Assistant Professor effective September 1, 2024. His research program will focus on the way protists modulate and impact the microbiome in health and disease. Dr. Gerrick’s lab will be located in Cummings Life Science Center (CLSC).
Dr. Gerrick earned his Ph.D. from Harvard University and B.S. in Microbiology and Immunology from U.C. Irvine. He is currently a Postdoctoral Scholar in the lab of Dr. Michael Howitt at Stanford University School of Medicine where he studies the influence of protozoan members of the microbiome on intestinal immunity.
